Black Hole

Black Hole

You are a hungry black hole in the middle of town: cones first, then cars, and finally skyscrapers!

Action · 1 player

How to play

You start by swallowing a trash can on the sidewalk, and every bite makes you a little bigger. Soon cars, houses, cranes and finally giant towers fit into your mouth. Named computer rivals grow in the same town: swallow the ones smaller than you and run from the bigger ones. When two minutes are up, the biggest hole wins.

  1. 1Drag your finger on the screen (or use the arrow keys) and the black hole moves that way.
  2. 2Swallow everything smaller than you. Things that don't fit wobble at the edge; grow a little more and they fall in too.
  3. 3Swallow rival holes that are smaller than you and run from bigger ones. A swallowed hole comes back at half size after 3 seconds.
  4. 4When two minutes are up, the biggest hole is first. Finish in the top three to earn stars and unlock the next map.

Keyboard

Arrow keys or WASD: steer the hole. [ and ] (or Q and E): change skin before the round starts. On a gamepad, the left stick steers and LB/RB change skins.

Touch screen

Press anywhere on the screen and drag: the joystick that appears steers the hole. Pick a skin with the arrows at the bottom before the round starts.

Controller

The left stick or D-pad steers the hole in any direction. Before a round starts, LB and RB flip through your costumes.

About Black Hole

Black Hole is a growth race packed into two-minute rounds. You drop onto the map as a tiny pit, and every object that fits inside makes you a little wider. As you widen, things that looked impossible a minute ago turn into snacks. Banners such as “You can swallow cars now!” announce each time a new class of object becomes fair game.

There are four maps: Downtown, Grand Park, Harbor and Snowy Town. Each has its own set of objects, from swings, fountains and greenhouses in the park to forklifts, containers and cranes at the harbor, and snowmen, barns and windmills in the town. Every map is crowned by one giant landmark, such as an observation tower, a lighthouse or a clock tower. Maps unlock in order, and each new one brings more rivals and a tougher field.

The rivals are computer-controlled holes with names like Whirl and Vortex, and they feed on the city exactly as you do. That turns every round into a constant judgement about whom to flee and whom to chase, not just a sweep for objects. A task that changes every day and eight costumes give you more reasons to jump into another short round.

Strategy and tips

  • Ignore rivals for the first twenty seconds. Vacuum up the small kerbside items, flowers and benches quickly to trigger your first growth spurt.
  • Do not hover around objects that are wobbling on your rim but will not fit yet. Eat the smaller pieces nearby, grow a little, then come back; that object will drop in on its own.
  • Swallowing objects back to back raises the combo counter. A row of parked cars on one street or a line of trees along a park path is perfect for this.
  • You need to be clearly larger than a rival to eat it. If you are close in size, do not charge; grab a few more bites from the surroundings first.
  • Getting swallowed is not the end. You reappear a few seconds later at half your size, so head straight for the busiest street and rebuild quickly.
  • In the final thirty seconds, aim for the big structures. A single apartment block or warehouse adds more size than dozens of small items.
  • Read the daily task before the round starts. If it asks you to eat trees, plan your route through the green parts of the park.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a round, and who wins?
Each round lasts two minutes. When time runs out the biggest hole takes first place, and the results screen shows your size in metres.
How do I unlock new maps?
Finish in the top three on a map to earn a star and unlock the next one. Your best placing and largest size are saved separately for every map.
Do costumes change how the game plays?
No, they are purely cosmetic. They unlock through goals like playing rounds, eating objects and rivals, finishing first or completing daily tasks, and you pick one before the round begins.
How do I steer on a phone?
Press anywhere on the screen and drag. A small control appears under your finger and pulls the hole in that direction, so no on-screen keypad covers the city.
