Glimmer Stones

Glimmer Stones

Line up cut gems, set off chains of light and finish all sixty levels.

Puzzle · 1 player

How to play

Six kinds of cut gems wait in a velvet jewel case: ruby, citrine, emerald, sapphire, amethyst and moonstone. Line up three of the same stone, turn four into a light band and five into a color orb. Across sixty levels in four regions, melt the ice, snap the chains, crack the stone crates and bring old heirlooms down to the bottom of the board.

  1. 1Swap two neighboring stones: swipe with your finger, or tap one and then its neighbor. Three or more of the same stone in a line break.
  2. 2Four in a row creates a light band that clears its whole row or column. An L or T shape creates a light halo (it blasts the area around it), and five in a row creates a color orb.
  3. 3Swap a color orb with any stone and every stone of that color breaks. Swap two special stones with each other and their effects combine.
  4. 4Each level's goal is shown on the panel at the top: a score, a number of one kind of stone, all the ice, or bringing the heirlooms down. Finish the goal before you run out of moves; leftover moves turn into a shower of light.
  5. 5Ice melts as the stones on top of it break (thick ice takes two). A chained stone can't move; make a match with it to snap the chain. A stone crate cracks when you match next to it.
  6. 6The Hammer breaks a single stone or crate, Shuffle mixes up the board, and +5 Moves gives you five more moves. Every new star earns you a helper.
  7. 7Wait 5 seconds without moving and two stones glow to show you a move. If no move is left, the stones shuffle by themselves.

Keyboard

Move the cursor with the arrow keys or W A S D, pick a stone with Space or Enter, then press a direction to swap it with its neighbor. Backspace lets go. F hammer, Q shuffle, E +5 moves. You can also move the cursor below the board to choose a helper. Esc or P pauses.

Touch screen

Swipe a stone toward its neighbor, or tap two stones one after the other. The helpers are the big buttons under the board.

Controller

The D-pad moves the cursor; press A to pick a gem and a direction to swap it, or B to let go. X swings the hammer, LT shuffles, RT adds five moves, and Start pauses.

Your high scores and progress are stored only in this browser; clearing browser data resets them.

About Glimmer Stones

Glimmer Stones is a calm yet thoughtful matching puzzle played on an eight-by-eight board of cut gems. Each level hands you a limited number of moves and a specific task: reach a target score, collect a certain number of one gem, melt every patch of ice, or guide heirlooms down to the bottom row. Because the goals keep changing, consecutive levels rarely feel alike.

The real depth comes from special gems setting each other off. A match placed in the right spot causes falling stones to form fresh matches, and the board erupts into cascades on its own. Once obstacles join in, every move becomes a small puzzle of its own: should you free that chained gem first, or spend two matches cracking the thick ice?

Difficulty rises gently across four regions. Early levels teach the rules, while later ones bring oddly shaped boards with blocked cells and several obstacles at once. It is a good fit for anyone who likes progressing one level at a time and enjoys thinking a move ahead without being rushed.

Strategy and tips

  • Make matches near the bottom of the board when you can. Clearing low gems shifts everything above them and raises the odds of free cascades.
  • Before settling for a plain three, check whether a four or five could be lined up instead; a hasty match can cost you the color orb that was two moves away.
  • Swap two special gems into each other. A light band combined with a halo clears a far wider area than either does alone.
  • In heirloom levels, attack the lower gems in the heirloom's column; a vertical light band is the most valuable tool there.
  • Deal with chained gems early. They cannot be moved, so they lock down part of the board and narrow your future options.
  • Finishing early pays off: every leftover move turns into a shower of light and bonus points, which means more stars and more helpers.
  • Save the hammer for the end, when a single ice tile or crate stands between you and the goal.

Frequently asked questions

How many levels are there?
Sixty levels spread over four regions. Each one can be cleared with one to three stars, and you can replay any of them to improve.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Unlocked levels, stars and helpers are kept in your browser, so you pick up exactly where you stopped.
What if I cannot spot a move?
Wait a few seconds and two gems will glow to suggest one. If the board truly has no valid move left, it reshuffles itself so you are never stuck.
How do I earn helpers?
Every star you earn for the first time grants a new helper, and there is a cap on how many you can hold at once.
