Color Flasks

Color Flasks

Pour the alchemist's mixed-up potions until every flask holds a single color.

Puzzle · 1 player

How to play

In the old alchemist's candlelit laboratory, the potions have all been mixed up. Pour from flask to flask to gather each color in its own flask; a full single-color flask gets a cork stopper. 20 shelves, 200 levels: hidden layers, narrow flasks and sealed flasks are waiting along the way.

  1. 1Tap a flask to lift it, then tap the flask you want to pour it into.
  2. 2Liquid only flows into an empty flask, or onto the same top color in a flask that still has room. All matching layers on top flow together.
  3. 3The level ends when every flask is filled with one color. Fewer moves, more stars.
  4. 4Stuck? Use Undo (10 uses), Hint or +1 flask. The extra flask makes things easier but caps the level at 2 stars.
  5. 5"?" layers are revealed once the liquid above them is poured away. A narrow flask holds only 3 layers and never completes a color. A sealed flask opens once its seal color is completed in another flask.
  6. 6If colors are hard to tell apart, press Patterns to give every color its own symbol.

About Color Flasks

Color Flasks is an unhurried sorting puzzle. Glass flasks on the table hold liquids stacked in layers, and your aim is to gather each color into a flask of its own. The rules take a minute to learn, yet as you advance you have to plan which flask to empty and when; one careless pour can leave you cornered a few moves later.

There are twelve colors and twenty shelves of ten levels each. A given level number opens with the same layout on every device, so you can talk through a puzzle with a friend and compare solutions. Later shelves add hidden layers whose color stays secret until the liquid above is poured off, narrow flasks that hold only three layers, and sealed flasks that wait for another color to be completed before they open.

There is no timer, which makes it a pleasant companion when you want to unwind. Players who find some shades hard to tell apart can switch on patterns that mark every color with its own symbol.

Strategy and tips

  • An empty flask is your most precious resource. Exhaust the pours available between other flasks first, and keep the empty one for when you are genuinely stuck.
  • Check how much room the target flask has before pouring. Matching top layers travel together, but if space runs out the rest stays behind and you have split a color across two flasks.
  • Uncover question-mark layers early. Plans made without knowing the hidden color tend to fall apart later.
  • Treat narrow flasks as temporary parking. You can never finish a color in one, but they are ideal for holding two layers for a moment.
  • When you spot a sealed flask, focus on completing the color shown on its seal; once it opens you effectively gain an extra flask.
  • The extra flask makes a level easier but caps you at two stars. If you are chasing three, lean on undo and hints first.

Frequently asked questions

How many levels are there, and are they all open?
There are two hundred levels. Levels open up to two beyond the number you have solved, so you can skip a tough one once and come back to it.
How many undos and hints do I get?
Each level gives you ten undos, five hints and one extra flask. They belong to that level and refresh when you start the next.
How are stars awarded?
Fewer moves earn more stars. A level finished with the extra flask can award at most two.
Where is my progress stored?
Solved levels and stars live in this browser, so returning on the same device picks up on the shelf where you left off.
